2-acetoxybenzoic acid

One of the most commonly used drugs worldwide - Aspirin, first isolated by the German Chemist Felix Hoffmann in 1897, is a product of the bark of the willow tree. Like many of today’s medicines, such as morphine, was refined from an already widely used natural medicine. Willow bark was first used as a medicine by the Egyptians circa the year 1500BC.
